China Officially Issues Recommended National Standard on the Use of Recycled Materials in Household Appliances

On October 31, 2025, the State Administration for Market Regulation officially issued the recommended national standard “Specification for the Use of Recycled Materials in Household Appliances” (GB/T 46730-2025). The standard will take effect on May 1, 2026. Compared with the draft for public comment released in May 2025, the final version remains largely consistent, except for revisions to requirements for process control in recycled material usage and Appendix B, which provides an example list of traceability documents for recycled materials in household appliances. As a recommended national standard, appliance manufacturers may voluntarily follow it to manage the use of recycled plastics, recycled metals, and recycled refrigerants in their products.
