China Issues National Standard for Carbon Footprint Determination of Room Air Conditioners

On Aug. 1, 2025, China’s State Administration for Market Regulation issued a national standard setting out methodology and requirements for the carbon footprint determination of room air conditioners, titled “Greenhouse Gases—Quantification Requirements and Methods of Product Carbon Footprint—Room Air Conditioners” (GB/T 46027-2025). It will come into effect Feb. 1, 2026. Here is an overview of the standard.
