China’s MIIT releases draft GB standards on toy and children’s product safety

On Aug. 1, 2025, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) published seven draft mandatory national standards (GBs) concerning the safety requirements for toys and children’s products and launched a public consultation. These GBs set limits on the content of migratable elements and plasticizers in toys and children’s products.

In addition, the GBs related to “children’s products” specify limits for substances such as formaldehyde, aromatic amines, N-nitrosamines and their precursors, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
