What Corporate Responsibilities Are Defined in the Draft Ecological and Environmental Code of China?

On July 29, 2025, China’s National People’s Congress published on its website an article from state-owned newspaper Legal Daily that explains corporate responsibility in the draft Ecological and Environmental Code of China. In the article, the author Lu Zhongmei, Deputy Chair of the Environment and Resources Protection Committee of the congress and Vice President of the China Law Society, gives a brief explanation of why businesses should take environmental responsibility and what corporate environmental responsibilities the draft code stipulates.
