China issues new edition of dangerous goods list

On March 28, 2025, China’s Standardization Administration issued a mandatory national standard, the “List of Dangerous Goods” (GB 12268-2025). It will come into effect Oct. 1, 2025, replacing the current 2012 edition of the standard.

The standard sets out general rules for the dangerous goods, the format and content of the dangerous goods list, and basic requirements for dangerous goods packages. It regulates the transportation of dangerous goods and related activities, but the new 2025 edition does not apply to bulk transportation by water.
