Macau Bans Import and Export of POPs Convention Regulated Substances

On October 21, 2024, the Chief Executive of Macau issued Executive Order No. 168/2024, prohibiting the import, export, and transshipment of substances regulated under the Stockholm Convention (POPs Convention), as well as certain mixtures and articles containing these substances. This order took effect on the date of its publication. The regulated substances include polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB), polychlorinated terphenyls (PCT), polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), pentachlorobenzene, hexachlorobenzene, perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and its salts, perfluorooctane sulfonamide (PFOSA), and perfluorooctane sulfonyl fluoride (PFOSF).
