China publishes draft mandatory national standard for wastewater pollution control in textile industry

On March 12, 2025, China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment published a draft mandatory national standard called the Discharge Standard of Water Pollutants for Textile Industry. The ministry seeks comments on the draft through April 14, 2025.

This is the second version of the draft adapted from the first version released in 2019 based on comments received on it. Important changes from the first version include adjustments to pollution load limits for wastewater discharged directly into municipal wastewater treatment plants, to the acute toxicity criterion, and to limits on wastewater discharge amount per unit product.
