China publishes draft mandatory standard for safety management in fine chemical companies to seek comments

On Aug. 26, 2024, China’s Ministry of Emergency Management published a draft mandatory industry standard called the "Specification for Safety Management of Fine Chemical Enterprises." The ministry is seeking comments on the draft through Oct. 26, 2024. The draft standard sets out safety requirements for fine chemical companies.

China is seeing rapid growth in its fine chemical industry, but as its production technology is not sophisticated and production processes are complicated and diverse, stricter safety requirements are needed for the industry. Under these circumstances, the ministry plans to issue the industry standard as mandatory rules, with the aim of publishing the final version in 2025, according to the explanatory document attached to the draft.
