China’s Shanghai revises mandatory local standard for pollutant discharge by semiconductor companies

On Feb. 29, 2024, the Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment of Shanghai, China, issued mandatory local standard called the Discharge Standards of Pollutants for Semiconductor Industry (DB 31/ 374-2024). This is a revision of the 2006 version.

The standard governs the discharge of water and air pollutants by companies in the semiconductor industry. New facilities and existing facilities must comply with the standard from May 1, 2024 and October 1, 2024, respectively. The standard sets water and air pollutant discharge limits.
