On Feb. 8, 2024, China’s National Health Commission and State Administration for Market Regulation published a standard for the concentration and migration of chemicals in adhesives used on direct and indirect food contact materials and products (GB 4806.15-2024), along with 46 other national food safety standards. It will come into effect Feb. 8, 2025. Here is an overview of the adhesive standard.
Scope of the standard
The standard applies to adhesives for food contact products and materials. It sets specific migration limits (SML), total specific migration limits (SML(T)) and maximum permitted residual quantities (QM) for direct and indirect food contact adhesives, respectively.
