Vietnam discussing recycling cost constants for discarded products and packaging materials

On December 22, 2022, the Vietnamese Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) held a seminar in Hanoi to propose the Recycling Cost Constant (Fs) for products and packaging materials to implement the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) scheme. The seminar was attended by representatives from ministries, local authorities, international organizations, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), waste recycler/processor associations, and private companies. At the seminar, it was announced that the recycling cost constant (Fs), which would be used to calculate the amount of contribution to be paid to the Environmental Protection Fund, was expected to be determined during 2023. Such a contribution to the Fund is one option among others for companies to fulfill their responsibilities under the EPR.
