Currently, about 3,000 large-scale energy-using facilities as defined by the Energy Conservation Act fall under this category in Vietnam. This figure is only 1% of the number of companies in the country, but the facilities account for 30% of the total in terms of energy use. It is estimated that if heavy energy-using facilities can reduce energy consumption by 2% each year, 1.4 billion kWh of electricity and 2.7 trillion VND can be saved. Similarly, if the country’s 27 million households can reduce their annual energy consumption by 1%, it can save 630 million kWh of electricity and 1,174 billion VND. In other words, driving energy savings in these two sectors (industrial and household) is expected to save at least VND 3.874 trillion each year. Energy consumption in the construction business is also still high, and according to the Ministry of Construction, the potential for energy savings in the construction industry as a whole is expected to lead to a 30-35% reduction in energy consumption.
