On February 27, 2026, the Hanoi People’s Committee issued Plan No. 74/KH-UBND on the conversion of fossil fuel-powered taxis to electric and clean energy taxis in Hanoi. Under this plan, Hanoi aims to complete the transition of all gasoline- and diesel-powered taxis to electric or clean energy taxis by no later than 2030. The plan is intended to promote green and sustainable transport, contribute to national emission reduction goals in the transport sector, and improve urban air quality.
