Vietnam issues new decree on dangerous goods transport by road

On December 18, 2024, the Government of Vietnam promulgated Decree No. 161/2024/ND-CP on the List of Dangerous Goods for Road Transport and Procedures for Issuing Transportation Permits and Safety Training Certificates for Drivers and Transport Escorts, which entered into force on January 1, 2025. This Decree focuses on the transportation of Dangerous Goods by Road in the territory of Vietnam and its scope overlaps with Decree No. 34/2024/ND-CP on the List of Dangerous Goods and Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Road and Inland Waterways, which was promulgated on March 31, 2024. Therefore, the title of Decree No. 34/2024/ND-CP has been amended from "… by Roads and Inland Waterways" to "… by Inland waterways".
