Vietnam Fully Amends Decree on Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road and Inland Waterways

On March 31, 2024, the Government of Vietnam promulgated Decree 34/2024/ND-CP on the List of Dangerous Goods and Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Road and Inland Waterways (hereinafter referred to as “the Decree”). The Decree replaces the previous Decree 42/2020/ND-CP (dated April 8, 2020), stipulating lists of dangerous goods, rules for transportation of dangerous goods, and application procedures for a permission of transportation of dangerous goods by road and inland waterways. Major changes made include: clarification of danger signs and warnings, mandatory safety drills on hazardous substances, simplification of application documents for transportation permission, and mandatory firefighting and safety measures for transporting vehicles.
