Vietnam Promulgates Technical Guidance on the Classification of Municipal Solid Waste

On November 2, 2023, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) promulgated Technical Guidance on the Classification of Municipal Solid Waste through official document No. 9368/BTNMT-KSONMT addressed to People's Committees of provinces and cities directly under the central government. This guidance sets forth detailed guidance on the classification of waste in order to implement Article 79, paragraph 5 of the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 (72/2020/QH14), which governs the costs of municipal solid waste collection, transportation, and disposal.
