Malaysia proposes partial amendments to CLASS Regulations adding new hazard categories and new rules on area labeling

On June 13, 2022, the government of Malaysia released draft amendments to the Classification, Labeling and Safety Data Sheet of Hazardous Chemicals Regulations (as known as “CLASS Regulations”). While there are no major changes to requirements currently imposed on chemical producers/importers, minor changes are proposed. The proposed revisions include: addition of items exempted from the Regulations, addition of new hazard categories, changes to concentration cutoff values, changes to requirements on label size, and introduction of a new concept called "area labeling." The invitation for public comments will be open until August 15, 2022.
