India India notifies to WTO draft on quality control order for refrigerating appliances

On November 4, 2020, India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry notified the draft of Refrigerating Appliances (Quality Control) Order, 2020 to WTO-TBT and 30 days-comment has been conducted. The provisions of this proposal are as follows.

  • This order will come into force with effect from January 1, 2022.
  • Goods or articles specified in the table shall conform to the corresponding Indian Standard as specified in the said table and shall bear the Standard Mark under a licence from Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as per the Scheme I of Schedule II of the “Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018”

The Indian Standards that must be complied with shall be the latest version in force at all times.
