On November 4, 2020, India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry notified the draft of Refrigerating Appliances (Quality Control) Order, 2020 to WTO-TBT and 30 days-comment has been conducted. The provisions of this proposal are as follows.
- This order will come into force with effect from January 1, 2022.
- Goods or articles specified in the table shall conform to the corresponding Indian Standard as specified in the said table and shall bear the Standard Mark under a licence from Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) as per the Scheme I of Schedule II of the “Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018”

The Indian Standards that must be complied with shall be the latest version in force at all times.
