UNEP, INC-2 decide to create zero draft for a legally binding international instrument on plastic pollution

From May 29 to June 2, 2023, at the headquarters of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris, France, the second Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-2) for the development of a legally binding international instrument on plastic pollution, including the marine environment, was held. This follows the first Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee meeting held in Uruguay in November 2022. INC-2 closed by entrusting the INC Chair with the preparation of an initial draft (zero draft) of the international instrument by the next meeting.
