POPs Convention adopts addition of dechlorane plus/UV-328 to Annex A at Eleventh Meeting of Parties

In a press release dated May 15, 2023, the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs Convention/hereinafter referred to as “the Convention”) announced that it was decided the 11th Conference of the Parties (COP11) held in Geneva, Switzerland, from May 1 to May 12, 2023 to add the additive chlorine-based flame retardant “Declorane Plus and its cis- and anti-type isomers (CAS registration numbers: 13560-89-9, 135821-03-3, 135821-74-8/hereinafter referred to as “Declorane Plus”), benzotriazole-based ultraviolet absorbers “UV-328 (CAS registration number: 25973-55-1)” and the eradicating agent (pesticide) “Methoxyclo (CAS registration number: 72-43-5)” to “Annex A Abolition.” Among them, for “Decloran Plus” and “UV-328” it was agreed to apply “time-limited exemptions” for activities related to use.
