Nine new substances to be banned in cosmetic products in Taiwan

On December 13, 2023, the Taiwan’s Ministry of Health and Welfare published a draft amendment to the “List of ingredients prohibited in cosmetic products” and started to solicit comments. The comment period will be open until 60 days later. According to the Article 6, Paragraph 1 of the Upper Law “Cosmetic Hygiene and Safety Act”, cosmetics shall not contain mercury, lead, or any other ingredients that have been banned by the central competent authority.
