On July 15, 2026, South Korea’s Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment (MCEE) issued a preliminary administrative notice on a proposed partial amendment to the Guidelines on the Application and Management of Average Energy Consumption Efficiency Standards and Greenhouse Gas Standards for Medium- and Heavy-Duty Commercial Vehicles and began accepting public comments on the proposed amendment through September 14, 2026. The proposal would establish average energy consumption efficiency improvement targets and greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction targets for medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicles for the period from 2026 through 2030.
