China announces pilot program for self-assessment scheme for compulsory certification of electrical, electronic products

On Jan. 6, 2023, China’s Certification and Accreditation Administration announced a pilot program that implements a self-assessment scheme for the compulsory certification (“CCC certification”) of certain types of electrical and electronic products. The announcement includes criteria for eligible companies that can participate in the program. The pilot program is based on the “opinions” of the State Council General Office on the administrative system reform for the electrical and electronics industry, and on the “Fang Guan Fu” business environment reform policy promoted by the state; Fang Guan Fu (放管服) stands for “devolution, administration and service”, which in turn refers to “simple administration and devolution”, “integration of devolution and administration” and “better service”.
