China releases “Yellow River Basin Ecological Environment Protection Plan” 
On June 11, 2022, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and the Ministry of Water Resources issued the "Yellow River Basin Ecological and Environmental Protection Plan". The Plan is issued to thoroughly implement the relevant requirements of the "Outline of Ecological Protection and High-Quality Development Planning in Yellow River Basin " promulgated by the State Council in October 2021, and serves as an important basis for guiding environmental protection-related work in the Yellow River Basin, formulating related plans and policies, and carrying out related businesses. The plan specifies measures such as promoting the cleaner production transformation, conservation and intensive use of water resources, and industrial wastewater recycling for key industries in the industrial sector.
Target areas
The target areas cover the relevant county-level administrative districts of nine provinces (autonomous regions) in the Yellow River Basin: Qinghai, Sichuan, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Henan, and Shandong. The total coverage area is approximately 1.3 million km2.
