China publishes draft standard for use of sensor data from hazardous chemical storages that are major hazard sources

On July 22, 2024, China’s Ministry of Emergency Management published a draft emergency management industry standard titled “Major Hazard Sources for Hazardous Chemicals Storage Perception Data Access Standardization”. The ministry is seeking comments on the draft through Sept. 17, 2024.

A “major hazard source” refers to a business unit (including equipment, facilities and sites) identified as such according to the mandatory national standard, “Identification of Major Hazard Installations for Hazardous Chemicals” (GB 18218), that produces, stores, uses or handles hazardous chemicals in quantities exceeding prescribed thresholds.
