China unifies four national standards related to the MEPS of heat pumps and water chillers into one standard

On April 29, 2024, the China’s Standardization Administration issued a mandatory national standard called “Minimum allowable values of the energy efficiency and energy efficiency grades for heat pumps and water chillers” (GB 19577-2024). The standard unifies and replaces the current four national standards that specify the minimum allowable values of the energy and energy efficiency grades for water chillers (GB 19577-2015), lithium bromide absorption chillers (GB 29540-2013), water-source(ground-source)heat pumps (GB 30721-2014) and low ambient temperature air source heat pumps(water chillers)(GB 37480-2019) respectively. These four standards will be abolished on February 1, 2025, the same day the new standard takes effect.
