China notifies WTO of draft GB specifying health safety specifications for household appliances

On February 12, 2024, the State Administration for Market Regulation notified WTO of a draft mandatory national standard entitled “Household and similar electrical appliances – Health safety specification” and started collecting comments. The deadline for submitting comments is 60 days from the date of notification. Although the proposed approval date has not yet been determined, the proposed effective date has been set at 36 months after the approval. The standard stipulates the limits for the amount of Ultraviolet-C (UVC) and ozone leakage, and noise from electrical equipment with air purification, sterilization, and antibacterial functions.
