China’s Guangdong province announces program to develop carbon trading scheme for carbon emissions peaking, neutrality

On Aug. 22, 2023, the Department of Ecology and Environment of Guangdong province, China, announced a program to develop its carbon trading scheme during 2023–2030 in order to help achieve carbon emissions peaking and carbon neutrality. The program includes targets for corporate participation in the carbon market. It also includes a plan to gradually expand the market to cover new industries, and a plan to consider dealing with other greenhouse gases such as HFCs and PFCs in the market.
