China plans to mandate national standard “Safety and technical standards for cleaning products”

On August 28, 2023, the State Administration for Market Regulation of China issued a WTO notification on a draft amendment to a mandatory national standard (GB) “Safety and technical standards for cleaning products”. The deadline for comments is 60 days after the date of the notification, and the scheduled date of adoption and implementation of the draft has not yet been determined. The draft is a proposed amendment to the GB/T 26396-2011. The revision upgrades the standard from a recommended to a mandatory standard, and also modifies the requirements for substances used as raw materials.
