China expands scope of renewable energy eligible for the Green Electricity Certificate

On July 25, 2023, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance and the National Energy Administration released the “Notice on making a full coverage of renewable green electricity certificate to promote renewable energy consumption”. The certificate of green electricity from renewable energy (hereinafter referred to as “Green Electricity Certificate”) is a certificate issued by the National Renewable Energy Information Center and is the only certificate that can be used to confirm the amount of renewable energy generation other than hydro power and prove the characteristics of the energy.
