Chinese industry association releases draft standards for hazardous chemical labeling

On Aug. 1, 2023, the China Chemical Safety Association published two draft association standards called the Technical Specification for Coding and Labeling of Hazardous Chemicals and the Technical Specification for Selection of Electronic Labels for Hazardous Chemicals. The association is seeking comments on the drafts through Aug. 31, 2023.

China has been developing a hazardous chemical management system based on two-dimensional barcodes associated with the safety information of chemicals. The draft standards set technical requirements for barcode creation and electronic tags for hazardous chemicals.
