Singapore submits bill to legislate plastic bag charging and beverage container deposit system to Parliament

In Singapore, the Resource Sustainability (Amendment) Bill was submitted to Parliament on February 6, 2023. This bill amends the Resource Sustainability Act 2019 that regulates three types of waste: e-waste, packaging waste, and food waste, and newly includes a charge for plastic bags in supermarkets, a deposit system for beverage containers, and a food waste reporting system.
