In Singapore, the “Environmental Protection and Management Act 1999 (Amendment of Second Schedule) Order 2025” and the “Environmental Protection and Management (Hazardous Substances) (Amendment) Regulations 2025” were published on January 31, 2025. Both of them regulate two chemical substances (long-chain perfluorocarboxylic acids (long-chain PFCA or LC-PFCAs) and medium-chain chlorinated paraffins (MCCPs)) and specific products containing mercury as hazardous substances under the Environmental Protection and Management Act(EPMA) and the Environmental Protection and Management (Hazardous Substances) Regulations. The former is covered by the Stockholm Convention (POPs Convention), and the latter by the Minamata Convention.
Singapore adds MCCPs and LC-PFCAs to hazardous substances regulated under Environmental Protection and Management Act
