Taiwan adds chlorpyrifos-methyl and chlorpyrifos as “Prohibited ingredients for environmental agents”

On July 29, 2022, the Environmental Protection Administration of Taiwan officially released the revised “Prohibited Ingredients Contained in Environmental Agents and Detection Methods”. The revision adds chlorpyrifos-methyl and chlorpyrifos into the list of “Prohibited ingredients for environmental agents”, and also stipulates a specific schedule for banning the use of chlorpyrifos. According to the “Environmental Agents Control Act”, the term “Environmental Agents” refers to chemical agents or microbial preparations used for environmental sanitation and pollution control (insecticides and fungicides used for environmental sanitation, and synthetic chemicals used for the prevention and control of air, water and soil pollution are included).
