Taiwan to revise recycling fees for containers, reducing fees for plastic containers using recycled materials

On Sept. 20, 2024, Taiwan’s Ministry of Environment announced a plan to revise recycling fees for containers, and released a draft list of new fees. Article 16 of Taiwan’s Waste Disposal Act stipulates that manufacturers and importers pay recycling fees (“recycling, removal and disposal fees”) for products and containers specified by the Environmental Protection Administration (the predecessor of the Ministry of Environment) at the rates specified by the administration.
