China strengthens environmental measures for the Yangtze River Basin

On September 8, 2022, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the National Development and Reform Commission, and 15 other administrative agencies of China promulgated the "In-depth action plan for the protection and restoration of the Yangtze River." The Action Plan covers 11 provinces and cities, including Shanghai and Jiangsu. The Action Plan outlines measures to strengthen industrial pollution control, enhance management of hazardous chemicals in marine transportation, and strengthen heavy metal pollution prevention.
