China’s Shandong province publishes regulations on solid waste management

On Sept. 21, 2022, China’s Shandong province published provincial regulations on solid waste environmental pollution control that are based on a national law called the Solid Waste Environmental Pollution Control Law. The new regulations will come into effect Jan. 1, 2023.

The regulations set out the three principles of “reduction, recycling and neutralization", define provincial rules and penalties for entities receiving solid waste from outside the province, and place emphasis on preventing environmental pollution from hazardous waste.
