China’s Jiangsu province launches large-scale inspection of pollution outlets in Huai River basin

According to a report published by the Department of Ecology and Environment of Jiangsu province, China on June 10, 2022, it has launched a thorough inspection of pollution outlets into rivers and lakes in the Huai River basin.

A policy released by the province’s government in January 2022 states that it plans to finish the inspection of pollution outlets in the Huai River basin and make an outlet list by the end of 2022 and finish correcting issues of these outlets by the end of 2025. The first round of inspection was started in May 2022 under this plan. It covers Huai’an, Yancheng, Yangzhou, Taizhou, Nantong, Xuzhou, Suqian and Lianyungang cities. Violations of environmental regulations found during the inspection will be punished.
