China’s Hainan province announces plastic pollution control action plan for 14th Five-Year Plan period

China’s Hainan province April 27 announced a plastic pollution control action plan for the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021–2025). With the aim of tackling plastic pollution in earnest, the province will implement in phases restrictions and bans on the production, sale and use of some plastic products, promote substitute products, standardize plastic waste recycling and develop systems to manage the processes of the production, distribution, use, recycling and disposal of plastic products.
