China issues new sets of implementation rules for green product certification

On March 22, China’s Certification and Accreditation Administration issued two new sets of green product certification implementation rules for refrigerators, air conditioners and washing machines and for tires, respectively, as the third installment of the implementation rules. The new rules came into effect immediately.

In November 2016, China decided that it would release labels, a standards list and a certification list for green products in tandem to implement green product certification based on them. As a result, 14 sets of implementation rules for green product certification have been issued so far. These include implementation rules for wood panels and wood flooring materials, paint, sanitary ceramics, architectural glass, solar water heating systems, furniture, insulation materials, waterproof and sealing materials, ceramic tiles (panels), fiber products and wood and plastic products.

One of the two latest sets of implementation rules set out green product evaluation and certification requirements for refrigerators, air conditioners and washing machines, covering home appliances for the first time. Here is an overview of this set of rules.
