China adds two products to water efficiency labeling scheme 
On December 13, 2021, the National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Water Resources and State Administration for Market Regulation jointly released the “List of Products Regulated under Water Efficiency Labeling (3rd Batch)”. The list will come into force on July 1, 2022. Shower system and water purifier are newly added as the regulated products of water efficiency labeling. According to the notice, for products that have been delivered or imported before July 1, 2022, the implementation of water efficiency labeling can be postponed to July 1, 2023.
Along with the above list, implementation rules for the above 2 newly regulated products were also released. The application scope of these 2 implementation rules are as follows.

| Shower system | It is applicable to shower systems, which include shower heads or combine with shower heads, installed at the end of cold/hot water pipes system in the building that used in sanitary facilities such as washrooms(toilet, bathroom) or shower rooms under condition of nominal pressure (static pressure) lower than 1.0MPa, and medium temperature between 4℃ to 90℃.
It is not applicable to shower systems with heating devices and thermostatic showers. |
| Water purifier | It is applicable to small water purifiers, which used in households or similar places, that use municipal tap water or other centralized water supply as raw water, and use reverse osmosis membrane or nanofiltration membrane as main purification elements. It is not applicable to large water purifiers with length, width or height≥2000mm, weight≥100kg and water purification flow≥3L/min. |

【Reference information】
According to the “Regulations on water efficiency labeling” released in September, 2017, it is stipulated that for the products added into the “List of products implementing water efficiency labeling”, water efficiency labels have to be marked on the conspicuously places of the products or the smallest package, in addition, the relevant explanation also has to be added into the instruction manual. In violation of the above label labeling provisions, a fine between 10.000 yuan to 30.000 yuan will be imposed.
