China releases list that shows development plans for standards for monitoring of contaminants of emerging concern

On Sept. 5, 2024, China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment published a 2024 list of standards for the ecological and environmental monitoring of contaminants of emerging concern (“new pollutants”). It lists 170 standards with the development status of each of them (i.e., published, considered or planned).

The list includes development plans for standards for the monitoring of persistent organic pollutants, endocrine disruptors, antibiotics, microplastics and other important contaminants of emerging concern included in the 2023 edition of the List of Key New Pollutants for Control1.
