China issues nomenclature standard for chemicals relevant to environmental management

On March 21, 2024, China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment published on its website a new national standard for the nomenclature of chemicals relevant to environmental management. Its English title is the Technical Specification for Nomenclature of Chemical Substances for Environmental Management. It will come into effect July 1, 2024.

The standard will be used for the registration of new chemicals, management of the Inventory of Existing Chemical Substances in China1, and assessment and management of environmental risks of chemicals.
