China publishes Q&As on the mandatory national standard “Requirements for overpackaging—Foods and cosmetics”

On August 31, 2023, the State Administration for Market Regulation of China published Q&As on the mandatory national standard “Requirements for overpackaging—Foods and cosmetics” (GB 23350-2021), which will be effective from September 1, 2023 The Q&As include the application scope of the standard, the product category to which each food and cosmetic product belongs, the need to calculate the packaging void ratio for products with only one layer of packaging, how to determine the packaging cost and selling price of food and cosmetics, and how to determine the k-value (necessary spatial coefficient of commodity) for facial masks, and the definition of products including supporting power tools.
