Singapore Solicits Opinions on Strengthening Climate-related Disclosure Obligations

On July 6, 2023, the Singapore Exchange Regulation (SGX RegCo), the regulatory arm of Singapore’s Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) and the Singapore Exchange (SGX), published a proposal to strengthen climate-related disclosure obligations and began soliciting opinions. It is proposed that listed companies be required to disclose climate-related information in accordance with the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) standards from FY2025 and for large unlisted companies with annual sales of 1 billion SGD (approx. 105 billion JPY) or more to do the same from FY2027. Comments will be solicited until September 30, 2023.
