On June 18, 2026, Singapore issued four subsidiary regulations related to the Energy Conservation (Amendment) Act 2026. Under these regulations, compliance with the Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) and the Mandatory Energy Labeling Scheme (MELS) will be required not only for businesses that sell or supply covered electrical products in Singapore, but also for importers of covered electrical products for personal use, who were previously outside the scope of regulation. The products covered by the regulations are air conditioners, clothes dryers, refrigerators, televisions, water heaters, and motors. All four subsidiary regulations will come into effect on July 1, 2026.
