Malaysia unveils New Industrial Master Plan

On September 1, 2023, the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry of Malaysia (MITI) published New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (hereinafter “NIMP 2030”). The NIMP 2030 provides an industrial policy for the manufacturing sector and related services in Malaysia through to 2030 and sets the direction for industrial development. It has four missions, each with strategies and action plans. Of these, Mission 3, “Push for Net Zero,” proposes plans for decarbonization to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. Implementing this series of plans will require an investment of about RM 95 billion (about $20.1 billion), but as a result is expected to create 3.3 million jobs.

Under Mission 3, the strategies and action plans are stated as follows. The government agencies responsible for implementing each action plan are also identified.
