Brunei Announces Laws Regulating MEPS and Energy-Saving Labels for Air Conditioners

As confirmed in February 2024, a notification stipulating the effective date of January 14, 2023 of the Energy Efficiency (Standards and Labelling) Act (hereinafter referred to as the Act) introducing MEPS and energy-saving label regulations in Brunei was published in the Official Gazette. In addition, a total of three orders and regulations stipulating the details of the Act were issued. These laws will come into force on the same date as the Energy Efficiency (Standards and Labelling) Act. Air conditioners with a cooling capacity of 7.1kW or less were specified as products subject to MEPS and energy-saving label regulations.
