Brunei notifies WTO/TBT of legislation designating air conditioners as products subject to energy labeling

On August 23, 2022, the Ministry of Energy of Brunei notified the WTO/TBT of the orders and regulations implementing the Energy Efficiency (Standards and Labelling) Order 2021. The above order requires registrable goods to be supplied to comply with the minimum energy efficiency standard (MEPS) and to affix an energy label, but the registrable goods and specific MEPS values were to be determined separately. The order notified to WTO/TBT at this time specifies the registrable goods, and the regulations specify the details of the MEPS and energy labels. The effective date is proposed to be January 14, 2023. A call for comments on this matter will be conducted until October 22, 2022.
