Taiwan adds 4 prohibited ingredients in the “List of Ingredients Prohibited from Using in the Cosmetic Products”

On April 27, 2022, the Ministry of Health and Welfare of Taiwan announced the amendments of the “List of Ingredients Prohibited from Using in the Cosmetic Products”. In the Article 6, Paragraph 1 of the “Cosmetic Hygiene and Safety Act”, which is an upper-level law of the List, it is stipulated that “cosmetics shall not contain mercury, lead, or other ingredients banned for use by the central competent authority”. Concretely, the importation, manufacture, sale, supply, or display for the purpose of sale or supply of cosmetics containing ingredients listed in the “List of Ingredients Prohibited from Using in the Cosmetic Products”, which is formulated based on the above-mentioned Article, is prohibited. This time, four ingredients are newly added in the revision. The revised “List of Ingredients Prohibited from Using in the Cosmetic Products” will become effective from July 1, 2022.
